Icelandic Dreaming

In the Studio a month and half ago after milling through thousands of thoughts of what the next project would be with the newly acquired Large Ashford loom, a photo of Icelandic sheep shared via Instagram by luxefibers inspired me to attempt a animal portrait.  You say Icelandic sheep?  Yeah... Icelandic sheep!  They are so beautiful with their wooly coat that I just can not resist them.

Icelandic

Here are several progress photos from a few weeks ago... This will be the work that will worked on at the Artisan Market tomorrow.  Lots of lush fibers for sure.

The sheep is finally starting to take shape and will be completed by noon on Sunday if all goes as planned.  The background will be filled in with the remaining landforms and sky.  Can't wait to see how it comes out.

First Grade fishes

Just grown fishes came into being today with our lovely excited first graders for their second class this year.  They learned scissor safety and how to cut on the line.  All did a fab job at this.  I couldn't be more proud of these kids who just graduated from kindergarten last June.... wow..

The Art room has a new addition to our clean up routine and that is... drum roll.... a DRUM
They all  listened with intense eye contact as the criteria and rules for earning the pleasure of playing the Drums for our Clean up routine this year.

Next up for these lovely fish will be to add COLOR... lots and lots of color and they will find their home in a mural in the hallway of NH!

Catch ya later

OHHH My..

Here are the final pixs of the adorable fishes..
Just added the blue for the water in the fish bowl.   Background is getting silver and white line designs.  Now we are ready for the fishes... where are ya?

Ohhh Hello... welcome to your new home!  These are adorable critters who brighten up the otherwise bland and boring hallway leading to the Art Studio.  Has it really been one year ??  wow.. miss these cuties.

Designs almost done...

New Beginnings in Minnesota!!

After a four year absence from the world of art teachering!!!  Rejoining the world of the art classroom studio has been wonderful, overwhelming, joyful, exciting, panic inducing and more!

Arriving and discovering what 30 years the previous art teacher gave to the art room and the community has been daunting to say the least. First week and half has been spend hitting the ground running to get the room sorted out by doing inventory of all art supplies that are consumables, checking what equipment is available and in working condition has been the goal while also sorting and relocating student work from recent year to 20 years ago.  It's quite a thing to see.

Where the art teachers desk shall go!

Here's pictures if the art studio classroom as it takes shape.  It'll be a few more weeks before we are fully functional but for now 50% of the room is functioning.

Boxes of yarn!  Never been so excited to come across yarn before.  Yay.
Can't wait to share what I've learned in the past few years in weaving!

Prepping a bulletin board with my stash of SMARFab!  It's awesome. So glad a saved it for now.  NAEA 2014 thanks

A loom that I've discovered on my Art Teacher group on Facebook!  Bless you whoever posted this.

A view facing the art teacher mothership with flying dot mobiles in honor of International Dot Day last week.  So loving these dots!!

Till next time.
